- Can you install an electric brake controller in my tow vehicle?
- Yes. We supply and install proportional brake controllers, wire them into the vehicle's factory tow harness where one exists, and set the gain with the trailer loaded so the braking is balanced rather than grabby. - My boat trailer lights work on one vehicle but not another. Whose fault is it?
- Usually the connector or a ground on whichever side is shared, but it is worth proving rather than assuming. Bring the trailer with the vehicle and we will test both — voltage drop at the plug, ground continuity through the coupler, and the vehicle's converter output. That is a much cheaper answer than replacing the wrong harness.
- Do I need trailer brakes on my trailer in Ontario?
- In Ontario, trailers over 1,360 kg (3,000 lb) gross weight generally require their own braking system, and breakaway brakes apply above that threshold too. We can check what your trailer's plate specifies and make sure the vehicle side is set up correctly, but the trailer's own certification governs.
- Do you service the trailer itself, not just the vehicle?
- We handle trailer lighting, wiring, connectors and electric brake magnets and drums on standard boat and utility trailers. Structural or axle work on larger commercial trailers is outside what we take on, and we will tell you that up front rather than partway through.
- How long does trailer wiring work take?
- A connector replacement or ground repair is usually the same day. A full brake controller installation is typically a half day depending on the vehicle. Boat and camper season books up fast in May and June, so call ahead.
