- Do I need a whole new exhaust system?
- Often not. If the corrosion is confined to one section, we replace that section. We will show you the rest of the system on the hoist so you can see whether a full replacement is genuinely due or whether you have another season or two.
- Will an exhaust leak fail a safety inspection?
- Yes. A leak in the system ahead of the passenger compartment, excessive noise, or missing components are all inspection failures — and a leak upstream can also put exhaust gases where you breathe them.
- My exhaust rattles only at idle. Is that serious?
- Usually it is a loose heat shield or a failing hanger, which is inexpensive to fix and worth doing before the section it holds up fatigues and breaks off on the highway.
- Why did my catalytic converter fail?
- Rarely on its own. Converters are usually killed by something upstream — a misfire, an over-rich mixture, or oil consumption. We diagnose the cause before quoting the converter, because replacing it without fixing the cause simply buys a second failure.
