- There is no fixed interval — it depends on how you drive and where. What we can tell you is the measurement. Pads are typically replaced somewhere under 3 mm of friction material, and rotors have a minimum thickness stamped on them. We give you both numbers so the timing is your call.
- My brakes squeal in the morning then stop. Is that a problem?
- Usually not. That is overnight surface rust being cleaned off the rotor on the first few stops, and it is very normal on cars parked outside in Peterborough. A squeal that persists once warm, or a grinding noise at any time, is worth an inspection.
- Do you check the brakes if I am only in for an oil change?
- Yes. A visual brake check is part of every service visit, and we report what we measured whether or not anything needs doing.
